GUWAHATI, Nov 29 - Nitish Das emerged winner in the 11th and penultimate round of the GTC Chess Grand Prix which held at the Gauhati Town Club (GTC) today.

Nitish and Dhrupad Kashyap both scored 6 points each out of 7 rounds and tied for the first position. However Nitish clinched the championship on the basis of better tie break score and Dhrupad was placed in 2nd position. Prangovinda Parsar Kashyap, Tridev Buragohain and Abhilekh Mahanta each scored 5 points.

The prizes were distributed by Anjanjyoti Das, asst vice president, Axis Bank and Nandan Buragohain, chief coach, GTC Chess Foundation. The 12th and final edition of the Grand Prix will be held in the month of December .

Final ranking: (Top 10) Nitish Das, Dhrupad Kashyap, Prangovinda Parasar Kashyap, Tridev Buragohain, Abhilekh Mahanta, Gunjan Deb, Debanga Kalita, Pranit Malhotra, Daiyaan Ahmed, Abinav Dubey. Girls: Anoushka Priyam, Abhilasha Kalita. (U-11) Manthan Kashyap Datta, Navya Bajaj, Achitanga Kashyap. (U-13) Sakib Alam, Abhigyan Anubhav, Nishi ISHI Prantik Mahanta. (U-9) Nihad Islam Hazarika, Satyam Jain, Prasurjya Bhuyan. Girls: Ananya Deka. (U-7) Mrinmoy Rajkhowa, Faheem NH Bora, Jaideep Kashyap. Girls: Afsheen Afsha Zaman.
