NITI Aayog official visits Sonitpur KVK

TEZPUR, Dec 6 - NITI Aayog Deputy Advisor (Agri) Manash Choudhury visited the Krishi Vikas Kendra (KVK), Sonitpur, recently to oversee the activities of the KVK and its functional linkage with the State�s Agriculture Department.

Choudhury also made extensive field visits along with District Agriculture Officer Dayal Chandra Kro, KVK Programme Coordinator, Dr PC Deka and other KVK scientists and agriculture development officers. He also interacted with different farmer groups like the vermicompost producer group of Bapubheti, flower and vegetable growers of Puthimari, vegetable growers of Gereki, paddy growers of Kalitagaon, litchi farmers of Bhitor Parua and fish, banana, fodder and sugarcane farmers of Kasokoni and Baghchung villages.

Choudhury also inspected different infrastructure developed under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna by the State Agriculture Department. He also made visits to local food processing units developed jointly by the KVK and the Department of Agriculture, besides the storage facilities in the private sector.

On the second day, he observed all the demonstration units of the KVK and took stock of seed and planting material generation. At the end, he interacted with the KVK scientists and expressed satisfaction on the mode of functioning of the KVK by rendering service to the farming community as well as its functional linkage with the State Agriculture Department.
