NIT Silchar shines in placement

SILCHAR, June 10 � The National Institute of Technology, Silchar has achieved 100 percent placement for its first batch of master of business administration (MBA) students.

In a release issued to the media, Dr Ashim Kumar Das, head, Department of Management Studies said that notable companies like NEDFi, Vodafone have absorbed the NIT students. Also, a few of them got placed in public sector undertakings (PSUs).

The highest package offered to the students of the first batch of management graduates was Rs 7.5 lakh per annum. �We are happy to see our students get placed in reputed companies and firms. The students have loads of talent and hope they can deliver the goods at the workplace,� Das said.

Since the last two years, the students are offered paid interns for their summer internship projects (SIP) in reputed organisations in both public and private sectors through the active training and placement cell of the institute, he said.

The Department of Management Studies has invited people from industries and academics, notable being Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Dalmia Cement, IIT Delhi. IIM Shillong, NIT Rourkela, IIE, NIFM, etc., in the last couple of years and has plans to strengthen the academia-industry collaboration, which will benefit the students and research work in the area of management, Das added.
