AGARTALA, March 10 - At a time when thousands of varsity and college pass-outs are running pillar to post for government jobs to lead a secure life, lucrative jobs are knocking at the door of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala.
This could sound as something unbelievable till one looks at the placement records of the State�s lone elite institute � NIT, Agartala.
Of the total 478 final year students of NIT, Agartala, 412 students have already received placement offer from various companies including BPCL, said institute�s Director Dr (Prof) Gopal Mogeraya.
�The placement has already touched 80 per cent at the NIT, Agartala. And, my mission is to ensure hundred per cent placement so that students could have smiles on their face at the end of the course�, he said while interacting with the media recently.
Giving full praise on the quality of local students, Prof Mogeraya said the problem with the students is lack of exposure and home sickness. �After completing their course they don�t want to go outside the State even after getting a secure job. This jinx has to be changed for their future�, he opined.
To address the lack of exposure, the NIT, Agartala authority has decided to undertake four-week finishing school course for students. �During the four-week programme, students will undergo counseling and speech lessons so that they could perform well in the national platform�, he said.
Dr Mogeraya said there has been no strike or student agitation at the NIT, Agartala campus during the past two years. �It shows all is well at the campus and both faculty members and students are keen to make the institute a centre of excellence�, he pointed out.
