Nine sent to detention camp

UDALGURI, May 9 - Nine persons, including five women, of Udalguri district have been sent to the foreigners� detention camp in Tezpur by police, Udalguri�s Addl Superintendent of Police Moidul Islam said. The detained persons hail from areas under Tangla, Khoirabari and Udalguri police stations, he said.

Kalpana Biswas (48) of Chamuapara village under Tangla PS was declared foreigner by the Foreigners� Tribunal on October 7, 2008; Swapon Sarkar (39) of Kukurakata village under Tangla PS was declared foreigner on December 16, 2005; Banvashi Mandal (45) of Chamuapara village was declared foreigner on September 7, 2008; Shivani Modak (47) of Ward No. 3, Tangla, was declared foreigner on December 31, 2009 and Mayarani Sen (70) of Ward No. 3, Tangla was declared foreigner on October 3, 2008.

Udalguri police also detained Nasirabad Begum of Station Block, Udalguri as per a declaration by the Foreigners� Tribunal on September 24, 2008 and Rashida Begum, also of Station Block, Udalguri, who was declared foreigner on December 18, 2018.
