Nine JE cases detected in Manipur

IMPHAL, July 22 - Manipur Health department has confirmed the detection of nine cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in the State today.

Some positive cases of je have been detected in the State, according to Health Minister DK Korunghthang. Appealing to the people to cooperate and not panic, the Minister informed that all possible precautionary measures have been taken to tackle the situation.

Director of State Health services Dr O Ibomcha said the State authority is taking all necessary steps. He also said that six JE cases were also detected in 2015.

Of the positive cases, some are children and have been admitted to private health centres.

The report of the JE outbreak has reportedly gripped the Churachandpur district headquarters in panic. Classes of some schools in the hill town have been reportedly suspended since the last few days, reports said.
