Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh and 10 others, including his 20-year-old son, were gunned down by suspected NSCN militants in an ambush at 12 Mile near Bogapani village in Tirap district on May 21 last. Aboh, who contested the just concluded Assembly polls on a National Peoples Party (NPP) ticket, got re-elected to the State Assembly.

The Khandu Cabinet strongly condemned the killing of Tirong Aboh and 10 others, stated a press note from the CMO late last evening.

As a mark of respect to the departed souls, the Cabinet approved for providing a group-C post in the Government to the next of kin of the deceased and to provide Rs 20 lakh as ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased.

Arunachal Pradesh NPP had also demanded a NIA probe into the killing of Aboh and 10 others. Partys national president and Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma had met former Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and raised several issues, including the recent assassination of Aboh.
