NIA announces cash rewards for information

GUWAHATI, Nov 1 � The National Investigating Agency (NIA) has announced cash rewards for anyone providing information about 12 key operatives of the Jamaat-ul-Mujeheedin, Bangladesh (JMB) and the list includes the name of the leader of the Assam module of the militant outfit Sahanur Alom alias Doctor.

NIA sources told The Assam Tribune that Sahanur, who hails from Sarthebari area in Barpeta district, is around 33 years of age and he is suspected to be the main man of the JMB in Assam. He is a quack dentist and is also known as Doctor.

Sources said Sahanur was involved with the recruitment process of the JMB in Assam and he is wanted in connection with the Burdwan blast and conspiracy of the JMB to establish bases in India. The NIA has announced cash award of Rs 5 lakh to anyone who can provide information about his whereabouts. His wife, Susina Bibi is also suspected to be an operative of the JMB.

It may be mentioned here that of the 12 persons wanted by the NIA in connection with the Burdwan blast case, five are Bangladeshi nationals.

Apart from Sahanur, the others mentioned in the list of the NIA include Sajid, the head of the Burdwan module of the JMB. He is a Bangladeshi national and was staying in Purshidabad area of West Bengal. The others mentioned in the list are Abul Kalam, Amjad Ali Sheikh, Burhan Sheikh, Kausar, Nasurullah, Rejaur Karim, Habibur Rahman Sheikh, Talhe Sheikh and Maulana Yusuf Sheikh. Cash awards ranging from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh have been announced for anyone providing information about them.
