TEZPUR, Sept 14 - Umesh Kumar, retired Director General of Police and Special Rapporteur, National Human Rights Commission visited the Tezpur Central Jail-cum-detention camp here on Wednesday morning. After visiting the Jail, he interacted with the media and said that the infrastructure of the jail needs to be developed. He also asked the jail authority to give a demand to the government for installation of closed circuit camera inside the jail.
Prior to it, he visited the Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) here to know and supervise the facilities provided to the patients. He discussed with the authorities about the facilities provided to the indoor as well as the OPD patients which should be as per rules and regulations of NHRC and Mental Health Care Act, 2017. He also visited the Indoor, OPD section of the new hospital, its rehabilitation centre, central library, academic building and residential blocks of the institute.
