NHPC provides pickup van to Akshaya Patra Foundation

GUWAHATI, March 15 - Under its corporate social responsibility and sustainable development (CSR-SD) scheme, the Subansiri Lower HE Project of NHPC Ltd has provided a customised pickup van to The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Guwahati.

The vehicle was flagged off by Pradan Baruah, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Lakhimpur at a function held on the premises of Akshaya Patra at Amingaon today.

Ronel Kumar, executive director, NHPC and Janardhana Dasa, president of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Guwahati were also present on the occasion.

The vehicle shall be used for delivering hot nutritious mid-day meals to students of government schools in and around Guwahati.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Guwahati is currently providing mid-day meals to around 47,000 students in 607 government schools in Kamrup district of Assam.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Baruah said health and hygienic food are of utmost importance for children and expressed his gratitude to NHPC for providing a customised vehicle to Akshaya Patra, Guwahati in carrying forward their mission.

Ronel Kumar spoke on the social commitments of NHPC towards the people living in the project vicinity.

He hoped that the customised vehicle would facilitate the Akshaya Patra Foundation in reaching out to more schoolchildren and in turn shall be a boon for the entire region.
