GUWAHATI, July 25 - The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued bailable warrants against 28 parties, who failed to appear before its New Delhi Principal Bench, in connection with the Original Application No 174 of 2013 (Rohit Choudhury versus Union of India and others) on the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) issue.
The NGT, in its order passed on July 21, said, �Noticees Nos. 8, 9, 11, 15, 18, 21, 30, 41, 42, 45, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 54, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 64, 66, 67,68, 69 & 70 who are not present before the Tribunal, let the bailable warrant be issued against those noticees for their production before the Tribunal in the sum of Rs. 20,000/- to the satisfaction of the arresting officer, in exercise of our powers and in terms of the provision of Section 19 (4) (a) of the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 read with Order XVI Rule 10(3) and Section 151 of Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.�
In total, notices were served on 71 parties to be present before the NGT on July 21, 2015, in connection with this case. Some of the noticees obliged either by attending the tribunal proceedings themselves or through their advocates. These noticees have been asked by the NGT to state clearly in their replies �as to what their right over the land and their land is situated at what distance from the Kaziranga National Park and whether it falls within the Eco-Sensitive Zone of Kaziranga National Park.�
August 25, 2015 has been fixed as the next date for the case.
