TURA, June 18 - NGOs of Dainadubi in North Garo Hills (NGH), including the GSU, AAYF, ADE, AYWO, PJAC and FKJGP have sought for better network connectivity and more network towers in and around the Dainadubi areas.
The demand comes in the wake of the recent kidnapping of a 6- year- old which the NGOs believed could have been averted in the area. �Most of the areas around Dainadubi, including Gairong, Dangkong, Chima Impel still have no proper telephone connectivity. The kidnappers used this knowledge and made off with the boy as they knew there was no way the parents could have contacted anyone for the help,� said Chengchang Marak, the GSU president of the area.
The NGOs have demanded installation of new towers in the greater interest of the people.
�In the modern era, connectivity is essential. We have no problem in providing the place for setting up of new towers, and we would request the mobile companies to look into the matter urgently. It will be life changing for the thousands of people,� said Sotindro Marak, the general secretary of Public Joint Action Committee (PJAC).
The NGOs have also decided to meet the Deputy Commissioner of NGH for a permanent solution to the perennial problem.
