NGOs come forward to help expecting mothers

GUWAHATI, July 17 - Several NGOs came forward to help expecting mothers at the initiative of Marwari Hospitals here at a pre-launch meeting of the scheme �Yashodhara� held recently with hospital president Sarat Kumar Jain in the chair.

�Yashodhara� is a programme designed to help expecting mothers from economically weaker sections of society admitted in the general wards of Marwari Hospitals at the time of delivery by providing partial sponsorship generated from donors in the community.

Speaking on the occasion, RS Joshi highlighted the facilities offered by the hospital.

Scheme coordinator Rajkumar More and co-coordinator Ramswarup Khakholia elaborated on �Yashodhara� among various NGOs, especially women�s NGOs, that were invited to the meeting.

The participating NGOs extended their wholehearted support to the scheme. The NGOs included Maheswari Mahila Samiti; Marwari Sammelan Mahila Sakha; Sri Amritganga Radhika Satsang Samity; Chetna Ladies Club; Lions Club Apran; Lions Club Anmol and Lions Club Guwahati Care. Many social workers also attended the meeting.

Hospital vice president Anil Jaina, treasurer Manoj Agarwal, blood bank chairman Damodar Prasad Bajaj, Bhagwati Prasad Khemka, medical superintendent Dr Anil Kalita and hospital superintendent Rohit Upadhyay also took part in the deliberations.

A sub-committee to steer the scheme was formed with Rajkumar More as chairman. It will consider involving socially active organisations to consider a proposal to provide post-natal care.
