NGO submits memo to PM on ILP issue

By The Assam Tribune

IMPHAL, Aug 3 - Manipur Watch Initiative, which is an NGO based in Manipur, has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi supporting the ongoing widespread demand of ILP system in Manipur.

A press meet was held in this regard at the Manipur Press Club at Majorkhul, Imphal. Speaking to mediapersons, convenor H Nabashyam of the NGO said, The current agitation for the demand of ILP in Manipur is very reasonable. Migrants have comprised a major chunk in the total population of Manipur, as per the latest census report of 2011.

At such a juncture, the hindrances of the Constitution of India are being brought in to divert the topic and mislead one and all. But all should know that the survival of the indigenous people of Manipur that have been threatened by the influx of migrants cannot be a mere question of constitutionality. The indigenous population cannot be sacrificed at the altar of the Constitution. He also suggested a dialogue, if required, among the national and regional political parties. Newmai News
