GUWAHATI, July 30 - Pratishruti Foundation organised a classical music night and felicitation programme on the occasion of its foundation day recently, according to a delayed press release issued here.
At the felicitation programme the lifetime achievement award was given to Sukumar Barthakur for his outstanding contribution in the field of classical music. Dr Dipankar Das from Shankardeva Nethralaya was felicitated for his contribution in the health sector. In the print and electronic media category Manish Goswami from The Assam Tribune, Deepshikha Deka from Asomiya Pratidin and Ritul Bhagabati from News 18 were felicitated. Mrigendra Sarma, physiotherapist and Pompi Roy, cancer awareness counsellor were also felicitated for their support and contribution to Pratishruti Foundation in organising health camps since its inception.
During the classical music programme, Santanu Biswas, a graded artiste of AIR and Doordarshan presented Raga Puriyakalyan and a bhajan. He was well accompanied by Subrata Chakraborty on the tabla and Dipen Sarma on the harmonium. Julfikar Hussain, a disciple of Ustad Afaq Hussain Khan of Lucknow Gharana enthralled the audience with his wonderful table recital. Solo Kathak dance recital was rendered by Rakesh Mandal. He was accompanied by Debojit Mishra on the tabla, Satyasandha Hazarika in vocals and Prabal Deka on the harmonium.
Among the dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony were Manas Das, CSD, State Directorate Cultural Affairs; N Munish Singh, Regional Director, ICCR, Govt of India; Subhashis Sengupta, AGM, SBI, Dispur and Paban Bordoloi, noted tabla player.
While the programme was anchored by Namrata Sharma, the initial slokas were chanted by Manashi Das. Foundation president Siddhartha Das gave the welcome speech, while the vote of thanks was given by its vice president Mrityunjay Sarma, the release added.
