TURA, Sept 13 - Local NGO Anti Corruption and Human Development Organisation has called for quick distribution of relief materials among the flood-affected people of Garo Hills. It alleged that many flood-hit are yet to get relief.
Floods had hit a large part of South West and West Garo Hills in July, affecting more than 1.6 lakh people. Food items were distributed during the floods, but later the Government also decided to distribute utensils and other household items. However, the distribution process has been delayed.
The NGO also demanded compensation for damage caused to ponds, paddy fields and nurseries, and called for early repair of damaged roads.
