GUWAHATI, March 22 - In a Samaritan move, the North Eastern Economical Developmental Society (NEEDS) has extended a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Sunu Kalita, a 15-year-old singer hailing from Majuli. Sunu has been suffering from brain tumor for the past three years, but due to poor financial conditions, his family has been unable to meet the requirements for his treatment.
The organisation has also appealed to other organisations and individuals to extend all possible help to the talented singer.
Other than Amardeep Paul, founder of NEEDS, popular actress Barasha Rani Bishaya has also been helping the family with significant contributions. Sunu Kalita will also be performing Borgeet at an upcoming NEEDS event in the GMCH auditorium on March 27.
