GUWAHATI, Dec 1 � The Arpita Social Welfare Society, a non-government organization formed by IIT-Guwahati students in association with Welfare Board, IIT-Guwahati, distributed clothes to the needy on Sunday at Lokhra Chariali here.
The materials, including warm clothes, mattresses, blankets, etc., were contributed by students belonging to all hostels of IIT-Guwahati. It needs to be mentioned here that such camps are organized twice a year by the students.
The beneficiaries included the poverty stricken people of Garbhanga village along the Assam-Meghalaya border.
An awareness camp was also held on the occasion wherein the beneficiaries were enlightened on various socio-economic issues relevant to their welfare.
