GUWAHATI, March 28 � NF Railway Sports Association clinched the title in the 7th Veteran Inter District and Inter Institution T20 Cricket Tournament.
In the one-sided final played at the Nehru Stadium here today, the NFRSA trounced Dibrugarh by 51 runs. Piling up an imposing 198 for two, the NFRSA veterans restricted the opponent to 147 for four.
For the winning team, Chiranjib Changma top scored with 82 while RB Indrajit added 61. But it was Rajesh Bora who stole the show with a blitzkrieg unbeaten 26-ball 50.
Chiranjib was awarded man-of-the-match and best batsman trophies while RB Indrajit was adjudged as the man-of-the-tournament. Indrajit Konwar of Dibrugarh received the best bowler award.
The tournament was organised by the Veteran Cricket Association of Assam in memory of Madhurjya P Baruah and Mukhtar Hussain. A total number of nine teams took part in the championship.
In the closing function, Assam Cricket Association secretary Bikash Baruah, former cricketers Badal Thakur, Raj Baruah, Sankar D Lahkar, Naba Konwar and Mukhtar Hussain�s wife Reema Hussain were present and handed over the trophies.
