NFRSA on verge of entering final

GUWAHATI, May 13 - NF Railway Sports Association (NFRSA) in total control against Dibrugarh on the opening day in the two-day second semifinal of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Elite Group Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament.

At the Assam Cricket Association�s Barsapara stadium here today, put into bat, Dibrugarh were skittled out for 57 in 19.5 overs in the first innings as speedsters Arup Das and Mrigen Talukdar ran through their batting line up taking five and three wickets respectively. In reply NFRSA piled up 230 for the loss of four wickets after 52 overs of batting.

Both Arup and Mrigen were in tremendous form and were virtually unplayable. Dibrugarh lost their eighth wicket with scoreboard reading just 10. However, finally they managed to cross the 50-run mark. Mukhter Hussain was their top scorer with 34. He faced 33 balls and hit two fours and as many sixes. Apart from him, Deepak Gohain was the second highest scorer with seven. NFRSA opener Parvez Aziz cracked 85 off 75 deliveries with 11 fours and four sixes. Manoj Malo added 69 while Utpal Medhi is at the crease with 49. Prasanta Sonowal took three for Dibrugarh.

Brief scores: Dibrugarh 1st innings 57 (Mukhter Hussain 34; Arup Das 5/15, Mrigen Talukdar 3/17). NFRSA 1st innings 230/4 (Parviz Aziz 85, Manoj Malo 69, Utpal Medhi batting 49; Prasanta Sonowal 3/65).
