GUWAHATI, Aug 19 � NF Railway Sports Association earned 3 vital points in the GSA Abhishek Motors RG Baruah Super League Football Tournament today.
In an evenly played match at the Nehru Stadium here NF Railway edged out Assam Police Blues 1-0. The all important goal of the match was scored by Sibra Narzary in the 43rd minute.
With today�s win NF Railway team has collected 9 points from five matches with three victories. On the other hand the policemen came under pressure with five points from as many matches.
NF Railway players played a well combined game in the first session and went ahead through Sibra�s goal. Jilendra Brahma set the ball from the right flank and Sibra perfectly deflected it to Police goal beating custodian Dulu Gogoi. The policemen tried to make a comeback into the game after the breather. They enhanced the momentum after substitute Robijit Jigdung took the field. The NF Railway players also concentrated more on guarding their fort rather than go for attack.
But police attackers Robijit, Sarbananda Sonowal were not accurate enough to do any harm to their opponent. Robijit in particular was off target as he muffed an easy scoring opportunity at the fag end of the match.
A Div concludes: Green Valley Sports Club emerged champions in the Jibeswar Goswami GSA A Division Football Tournament which concluded today.
Green Valley ensured their title far ahead of completion of the championship with full 21 points. City Police came second with 15 points while Maharana AC stood third with 13 points. Today�s match: Super Div Navajyoti vs Dynamo.
