GUWAHATI, April 23 - Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has ramped up transportation of medical items and equipment to ensure their supply in this part of the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.
NFR has transported nearly 2.5 tonnes of medical items to various north-eastern states through parcel express trains.
Transportation of such items to the NE states is of great importance as these items are generally not manufactured in this region and states are heavily dependent on their transportation from outside. Masks, sanitizers and other medical items have become very essential in view of the present spread of the COVID-19, said Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR.
