By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 8 - The Northeast Frontier Railway will be operating a Parcel Express train from Guwahati towards Dibrugarh to ensure transportation of essential goods during the period of the ongoing nationwide lockdown.

The train will depart from Guwahati at 7 am on April 13. It will have 15-minute-long stoppages at Hojai, Lumding Junction, Diphu, Dimapur, Sarupathar, Furkating Junction, Mariani Junction, Simaluguri Junction and New Tinsukia during its journey for loading and unloading of items.

It will reach Dibrugarh at 10.40 pm the same day.

Parcel booking for this train will remain open from 10 am on April 11 to 6 pm on April 12.

It is noteworthy that Indian Railways has made railway parcel vans available for quick mass transportation across the nation during the ongoing lockdown.

Provision of parcel trains and rapid transportation of goods will bolster the efficiency of supply chains during the lockdown period. This will help in movement of essential items like dairy products, medical equipment and medicines, groceries, edible oil and baby food in small quantities as well, said Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR.
