NFR to install new lifts, escalators at various stations

GUWAHATI, Nov 15 - Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has taken up a project to install new lifts and escalators at various stations across the railway zone.

Work has been started to install 25 new escalators and 32 lifts at various stations under its jurisdiction within December 2020, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Subhanan Chanda said.

At present, there are 11 lifts and 10 escalators functional in major stations under the five divisions of the Maligaon-headquartered NFR.

�Lifts and escalators at have become necessary in view of the difficulties faced by passengers, especially elderly persons, while moving across foot overbridges to different platforms at large stations. Indian Railway has decided to provide more lifts and escalators to make it easier for passengers to board trains effortlessly and on time,� Chanda said.
