NFR to add coaches to many long-distance, local trains

GUWAHATI, May 5 - Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to augment the capacity of many long-distance as well as local trains on a permanent basis as part of efforts to provide more berths to passengers of the region.

Pranav Jyoti Sharma, chief public relations officer (CPRO) of NFR, said that all the additional coaches will be added permanently from this month itself.

One AC 3-tier coach will be added to the 55615/55616 Guwahati-Silchar-Guwahati Fast Passenger, while three general second-class coaches each will be added to the 55803/55804 passenger, the 55809/55810 passenger and the 55817/55818 passenger trains running between New Bongaigaon and Guwahati.

Sharma said four general second-class coaches will be added to the 55893/55894 passenger and the 55895/55896 passenger trains running between Rangapara and Rangiya, as well as in the 55681/55682 passenger and the 55683/55684 passenger trains running between Agartala and Garjee.

One general second-class coach will be added to the 55679/55680 passenger train running between Agartala and Dharmanagar.

�NFR has been adding coaches, both on permanent as well as on temporary basis, depending on demand and feasibility. These are in addition to the numerous special trains being run to clear the rush of passengers. During the 2018-19 fiscal, NFR added 28 coaches on permanent basis in various trains, apart from adding 302 coaches on temporary basis. Addition of these coaches helped manage the rush of passengers to a great extent,� said Sharma.
