NFR takes part in Indian Railways� COVID awareness programme

GUWAHATI, Oct 8 - Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) today held programmes across the zone as part of the countrywide special drive of the Central government to further enhance awareness amongst common people about measures to restrict the spread of COVID-19.

The special campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from New Delhi this morning. Later, Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, interacted with all the general managers and other senior officials of the Indian Railways through video conferencing.

Goyal administered the pledge for COVID awareness and spoke about the need for boosting awareness level among the masses to control the deadly virus. He called for making it a mass movement among members of the �rail parivar� and rail users.

As part of the programme, a pledge was taken by railway officials all over the jurisdiction of NFR. General Manager of NFR Sanjive Roy administered the pledge at the zone headquarters at Maligaon in the presence of staff and officers.

Similar programmes were also held at all the five divisional headquarters of NFR located at Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar and Katihar and also at important railway establishments and stations.

Banners were placed at various prominent locations to create awareness.

�The threat of COVID-19 is not over yet. Together we have to continue our fight against the pandemic. For this, everyone needs to observe maximum precautions till any cure is found. To restrict the spread of the virus, one has to wash hands regularly. Wearing mask in public places and maintaining a physical distance of two yards is very important to avoid getting infected. We should not become complacent,� Roy said on the occasion.
