HAFLONG, Dec 11 The Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao District Barun Bhuiyan has instructed the N F Railway to clear the payment of compensation to all the affected people of 14 villages of Dautuhaja area after joint verification within one month in his court on Tuesday.

At least 245 families of 14 villages of Daotuhaja were affected due to BG conversion and they approached the High Court as the NF Railway was delaying the process on several pretexts.

As per the High Court order, the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao summoned the General Manager (Construction), Chief Engineer, (Construction) and the Deputy Chief Engineer of NF Railway to appear before the court on Tuesday, but the General Manager (Construction), Chief Engineer, (Construction) and the Deputy Chief Engineer of NF Railway did not appear the D Cs court. Instead one engineer appeared before the DC.

The affected people are of the opinion that if the N F Railway fails to clear up their compensation as directed by the Deputy Commissioner, they will be compelled to stop the construction work for which they could not be held responsible in case of any eventuality.

The Railway engineer who appeared before the court refused to say anything to mediapersons saying I cannot say.

Meanwhile, the president of the Affected People Rehabilitation Committee Pranobjit Langthasa said these affected people who are fighting for their genuine rights may lose tolerance if this time also the Railway fails to clear up their dues.

The Deputy Commissioner, Barun Bhuiya said I have given the Railway one month time and within this period it will have to clear up the compensation and settle the dispute, otherwise stern action would be taken according to law.
