GUWAHATI, Aug 6 � A sudden goal in the 14th minute off the boots of Jelendra Brahma sealed the fate of the match as NF Railway Sports Club earned three vital points with 1-0 victory against ASEB Sports Club in their Abhishek Motors RG Baruah GSA Super Division Football League.
Jelendra beat ASEB custodian Daoga Brahma from an acute angle from where a goal can rarely be scored.
It was a fast paced encounter at the Nehru Stadium here today. NF Railway, which lost their first match against FCI Sports Club, were in a better shape today and their defenders in particular showed great deal of determination.
ASEB young brigade tried hearts out in search of an equaliser. Shyam Mura, Saurav Chetia, Nitu Narzary went all out in the later part of the match and came close to scoring. But due to some good defensive play by the railway defenders and the goalkeeper, the ASEB attackers could not make the breakthrough. However, during the added time, Jenendra missed the easiest scoring chance of the match as he failed to put the ball in an open net.
A Division: City Police defeated Rising XI 3-0 in the A Division league. Anuj Gogoi struck twice in the 44th and 80th minutes while Monoj Boro added one in the 68th minute.
