NF Railway organises vendors� meet

GUWAHATI, May 10 - With a view to inducting new vendors and enhancing the product range of existing vendors, the Northeast Frontier Railway organised a vendors� meet in association with Chittaranjan Locomotive Works at Rang Bhawan, Maligaon here today.

According to an NF Railway press release, more than 225 participants represented 153 vendors from different parts of the country including the North East.

Inaugurating the vendors� meet, Member (Materials Management), Railway Board VP Pathak mentioned the rapid growth and technological transformation that are taking place in the railway system and emphasised the need to have more vendors for supply of materials for maintenance and safe and effective train operation.

Pathak expressed hope that holding of the meet in the NE region would help in increasing the vendor base in the region for supply to Railways .

Addressing the meet, Advisor (Railway Stores) RK Vyas said the vendors are required to prepare themselves for meeting the challenges arising out of induction of modern coaches/rolling stock and other assets with latest technology in the railway system.

Additional General Manager, NF Railway Radhey Raman said the railway network is expanding very fast in the NE connecting the capitals of states in the region. This, he said, necessitates availability of adequate vendors in the region to meet the higher demand for spares .

The vendors who participated in the meet were very enthusiastic about getting associated with the procurement system of Indian Railways.
