GUWAHATI, Sept 27 � The Northeast Newspaper Society has asked the Government to release funds it owes to various newspaper organisations against advertisements.
In a press note, the society said that the newspaper houses are dependent on the money earned from advertisements. Be it salary of the employees or buying of news print, all these expenses are met through the money earned from advertisements.
�The newspaper houses have not received the money since the last few months. In view of the ensuing Durga Puja, we urge the Government to clear the dues at the earliest,� the press note added.
