Newsmen saved from drowning

DIBRUGARH, April 26 - Two mediapersons had a narrow escape after they fell off the boat in swelling Burhidehing river when the boat capsized near flood-ravaged Serepakhati village under Khowang Revenue Circle today. The two newsmen � Amit Chaudhury (News Live) and Karuna Phukan of (Assam Talks) had reportedly gone to the area to collect video footage of the flood scene.

The local villagers, who saw the newsmen drowning, jumped into the floodwaters and rescued them. The newsmen had drunk some amount of the floodwaters while gasping for breath, the locals informed. The video camera and their equipment were damaged in the water. The boatman who also fell managed to save himself. At least six revenue villages and their agricultural lands have been affected in the floodwaters in Tingkhong area.
