ITANAGAR, Nov 30 - Newly-elected BJP MLA from Hayuliang Assembly constituency in Arunachal Pradeshs Anjaw district, Dasanglu Pul today took oath as a member of the State Assembly.

With this, the strength of BJP, an alliance partner of the ruling Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA), in the 60-member Assembly rose to 12 the best-ever electoral performance of the Saffron party in this hilly border State with PPA enjoying the lions share (43) as against opposition Congresss three. The BJP had won 11 seats in the 2014 general elections.

Dasanglu Pul was administered the oath of affirmation by Assembly Speaker Tenzing Norbu Thongdok in a simple ceremony at Nokmey Namati Hall of the Assembly Secretariat at Naharlagun this morning in the presence of dignitaries and her supporters and relatives.

Those who attended the ceremony included Deputy Speaker Alo Libang, State BJP president Tapir Gao, PPA president Kahfa Bengia, Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs. State Chief Secretary Sakuntala Doley Gamlin was also present.

Widow of former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, Dasanglu Pul had won the Hayuliang Assembly seat in the November 19 bye-election, defeating her lone rival Yompi Kri, an Independent candidate, by a margin of 942 votes. The bye-poll was necessitated following the unnatural death of former CM Pul.
