BARPETA, Sept 14 - In a sensational and inhumane incident, a newborn baby was stolen from the bed it was sharing with her mother at Bahmura in Barpeta district. According to information, Nurula Parbin, wife of Babul Hussain, a resident of Balikuri near Kalgachia gave birth to a baby 15 days back. Since then she was staying at her maternal house at Bahmura.
The mother went to sleep last night hugging the baby to her chest. As she woke up around 3 am and searched the baby for breastfeeding, she was stunned to know that the baby was missing from the bed. Soon a hue and cry began and the neighbours and villagers assembled there. The crowd picked up one Iman Ali, a driver by profession due to his antecedents of criminal activities.
Proving the suspicion of the villagers correct, Iman confessed that he had committed the crime in association with one Hasanur Ali by breaking down the feeble doors of the house. He disclosed that the baby was carted away in his car and sold to a person at Mukalmua for Rs 10,000. The crowd became angry and it set ablaze his Hyundai Eon car and handed him over to the police.
However, the other accused Hasanur Ali is absconding and the whereabouts of the baby were also not known till the filing of this report.
