New train from Kamakhya to Puri inaugurated

GUWAHATI, March 26 � Three new trains were inaugurated simultaneously from Kamakhya and New Jalpaiguri today, an NFR press release said.

The 5644/5643 Kamakhya - Puri Express (weekly) from Kamakhya was flagged off by MPs, Bijoya Chakravarty, Birendra Prasad Baishya and Bhubneswar Kalita in the presence of Additional General Manager, NF Railway Vipin Jha, senior railway officials and hundreds of others at Kamakhya railway station at 11.30 am today.

Starting from Kamakhya at 23.45 hrs every Thursday, the train will cover a distance of 1526 km in about 32 hours to reach Puri at 8.00 hrs on Saturday. In the return direction, the train will start from Puri at 22.15 hrs on every Saturday to reach Kamakhya at 4.20 hrs on Monday.

Regular service of this train will start from Kamakhya from April 1 and from Puri from April 3. The train has stoppages at Goalpara, New Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Alipurduar Jn Siliguri, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Barsoi, Malda, New Farakka, Azimganj, Katwa, Nabdwipdham, Bandel, Howrah, Kharagpur, Bhadrak, Jaipur Keonjhar, Cuttak, Bhubneswar and Khurda.

Two other trains, 2523/2524 New Jalpaiguri - New Delhi bi-weekly Express and 5765/5766 New Jalpaiguri - Alipurduar Jn Intercity Express (daily) were inaugurated from New Jalpaiguri railway station by Mukul Roy, Minister of State for Shipping, Govt of India in a function organised at New Jalpaiguri Railway station, the release added.
