SILCHAR, June 6 - Newly-elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Silchar Dr Rajdeep Roy was felicitated at various places in his constituency.

On Thursday, Dr Roy was felicitated by the teachers and students fraternity of Radhamadhab College.

Dr PK Sinha, Principal of the college and chairman of the event, Prof NB Dey, president of the college governing body and other teachers and students presented mementos and gifts to the MP who attended the occasion with his mother Bani Roy.

Reacting to the warm reception and responding to the demands put forwarded by the college authority of granting provincialised status to the Commerce stream, Dr Roy said, �The college is close to my heart and I have been closely associated with this college. I will bring the issue to the knowledge of the State Education Minister and will do whatever is needed for a plausible solution. I will also request him to pay a visit to the college and take stock of the situation.� Sudharshan Gupta, Assistant Professor at the college anchored the event.
