GUWAHATI, Nov 8 - With new security arrangements in place and extensive use of jammers, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) is all set to organise the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examination for Lower Primary and Upper Primary levels on November 10 in 587 centres across the State.
The exams, which were conducted by the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission earlier, are being held under SEBA supervision for the first time. Also, the elementary level TET is being held for all categories of candidates for the second time in the State after a gap of six years.
Arrangements have been done to break the seal of question paper packets in examination halls, after certifying it from candidates present.
The Board, with the help of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) has arranged for jammers in selected examination centres, covering at least 60 per cent of the centres.
SEBA Chairman RC Jain told The Assam Tribune that steps have been taken so that students cannot carry the answer booklets with them. �They will have to sign and confirm the submission of answer scripts before leaving the examination hall. Moreover, entry of electronic gadgets � mobile phones, tabs, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices etc., is strictly prohibited. Other tools like geometry boxes, scale, etc., also won�t be allowed, as the pattern of examination does not require them,� added Jain.
This time, approximately 3.96 lakh candidates would appear in the exam. Over two lakh applications were rejected for not possessing the mandatory National Council for Teacher Education-recognised professional qualifications like B Ed, D.El.Ed (two-year course), etc.
