New range office inaugurated

KAZIRANGA, Oct 1 - A new range office of the Bokakhat range was today formally inaugurated by Director of Kaziranga National Park cum Tiger Reserve P Siva Kumar and Divisional Forest Officer of Eastern Assam Wildlife Division ( Kaziranga) Rohini Saikia on the premises of the office of the Director of Kaziranga National Park.

The notification for the creation of the new range office at Bokakhat was issued when a new wildlife division of the Kaziranga National Park was created at Biswanath (Biswanath Wildlife Division) in 2018.

This will be the eighth range of the national park and it covers about 190 square kilometres, which includes areas like Bhakte Chapori, Moriahola, Panbari and a few others.

Earlier, the areas under the new range were controlled by the Bokakhat beat of the park, which has been converted into Bokakhat range.
