New Press body�s executive takes oath

GUWAHATI, June 14 - The oath-taking ceremony of the executive committee of the newly formed Press Club of Assam (PCA) was held on June 12 at a city hotel here.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Apurba Kr Sarma, member of the Press Council of India (PCI), New Delhi.

Rajib Prakash Baruah, Deputy Commissioner of South Kamrup district, well-known social activist Mrinalini Devi, noted film actor-sportsman Dilip Kr Mazumdar, former secretary general of the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad Ajit Kr Sarma and senior advocates Anjan Kr Das and Bani Bikram Sarma of the Gauhati High Court were also present on the occasion.

In his speech PCI member Sarma suggested to the PCA to prepare a detailed list of journalists, editors and mediapersons of Assam as early as possible and send it to the PCI.

The PCA executive has, among others, Kailash Sarma as its president, Pranabjit Doloi and Md Moslemuddin Ahmed as vice presidents and Hiren Chandra Kalita as general secretary.

At the same event the PCA condoled the demise of renowned artiste and father of Assamese mobile theatre Achyut Lahkar.
