AGARTALA, Nov 14 - If everything falls in right place, the employees of Assam Government would enjoy new pay structures by January next year, said Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Pay Commission is scheduled to submit its report before the government on November 18 and the government plans to implement new pay scales for the employees by January itself, he said at a press conference here on Monday.
Sarma, who heads the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) was on a whirlwind election campaign for byelections to Barjala Assembly constituency in West district.
Referring to the Marxist Governments deprivation of the State Government employees in Tripura, Sarma said the BJP Government has completed only few months in Assam. We have already declared 125 per cent DA to the State Government employees despite huge financial burden. If BJP-led Government could give such amount of DA why Tripura Govt is depriving its employees, he asked.
On the issue of citizenship of Bengali and Hindu families, he said, The BJP Government is committed to protect the rights of Assamese people as per Assam Accord. Side by side, I am of the view that Bengali and Hindu families will be given citizenship right after taking into consideration opinion of all section of people.
Asserting that BJP wants to expand its geographical base in the North East, Sarma said the party looks set to form next government in Manipur where Assembly elections are due in three months.
Sarma, who left for Guwahati after addressing two rallies, claimed BJP will bring a change in Marxist-ruled Tripura in 2018 Assembly elections. During the Marxist regime, Tripura turned into MGNREGA economy. Around 68 per cent BPL population in the State proves Manik Sarkar-led government could not change the fate of the people, he alleged. As of now we are not considering to forge alliance with any regional parties as it will hamper the growth of BJP in Tripura, he said.
