New panel of Indian Red Cross Society formed in Dibrugarh

GUWAHATI, June 2 - A new managing committee of Indian Red Cross Society was reconstituted in the presence of Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha and ADC Sanjay Dutta at the DC�s Conference Hall in Dibrugarh on May 27, a press release stated.

A large number of Red Cross Society members along with dignitaries coming from Indian Red Cross Society, Assam state branch were present in the meeting which was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Assam State Branch, Guwahati in coordination with the Dibrugarh DC.

In his inaugural address, the Deputy Commissioner welcomed all the members present in the meeting and elaborately described the need for formation of the present Red Cross Society, its various activities in disaster management where involvement of youth and junior Red Cross groups is given topmost priority for the cause of humanity.

Earlier, in his keynote address, Diganta Bujarbaruah, general secretary of Assam State branch of Indian Red Cross Society, Guwahati, highlighted the details of Indian Red Cross Society along with various plans and programmes in the different districts of Assam and exhorted for their successful implementation at Dibrugarh.

The following managing committee was formed with Pallav Gopal Jha as president, vice presidents Dipu Kumar Deka, chairman Dr Pranit Chowdhury, vice chairman Dr Santanu Lahkar, treasurer Cheni Ram Bora and general secretary Dr Pankaj Kumar Shrutikar respectively.

The DC requested all the members to work dedicatedly for successful implementation of the aims and objectives of the Indian Red Cross Society and assured all possible help and cooperation in establishing a full-fledged Red Cross Society office at Dibrugarh in the days to come.

Diganta Bujarbaruah subsequently offered the vote of thanks to all present, the release concluded.
