AIZAWL, Nov 5 - PS Sreedharan Pillai, noted lawyer and former Kerala State BJP president, was today sworn in as the 21st Governor of Mizoram here.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Ajai Lamba, at the circular lawn of the Raj Bhavan. The warrant of appointment was read out by Mizoram Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuango.
The swearing-in ceremony was followed by a press conference. Later in the afternoon, the Governor formally took his seat at office.
Meanwhile, Pillai told media persons that he would render all possible help to the State Government in getting assistance from the Centre.
Chief Minister Zoramthanga, Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo, ministers, MLAs, top officials and special invitees were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
Pillai was affiliated to the Kerala State BJP and was its president from 2003 to 2006. He is also a known social activist and prolific writer.
