IMPHAL, Oct 26 - Amidst the ongoing crisis over reservation in admission process issue in the Manipur University, the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has appointed a full time Vice Chancellor in the varsity.
The HRD Ministry in a communication to the Registrar, Manipur University, named Professor Adya Prasad Pandey of Benaras Hindu University as the new VC of the University.
According to reports, the HRD Ministry in a missive on October 24 instructed Manipur University authorities to stay the admission process and wait for a decision of the Ministry in this regard. The admission process of various post-graduate courses in the University for the Academic Session 2016-17 has been pending for the last few months due to the controversy over seat reservations for SC and ST.
