IMPHAL, April 1 - Former Manipur Minister and sitting MLA TN Haokip, newly-appointed president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), has reiterated his resolve to strengthen the party ahead of the 2017 State Assembly polls.
Haokip was appointed as new president of MPCC in place of Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) issued a statement regarding Haokip�s appointment on Tuesday following the demand for removal of Gaikhangam under the �one-man-one-post� formula. A group of ruling Congress MLAs numbering around 25 has also demanded removal of some of the under-performing Ministers, sources said.
The formal handing over and taking over of the charge of MPCC presidentship will be held at Congress Bhavan in Imphal tomorrow.
