New Lakhimpur KV building inaugurated

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Jan 6 - Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Z Irani on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed permanent building of Kendriya Vidyalaya Lakhimpur at Lilabari, 7 km from here.

A public meeting was organised on the occasion in the school campus where the Union Minister greeted the gathering by announcing the introduction of commerce and humanities streams in the Lakhimpur KV from the new academic session.

She also spoke about her ministry�s initiative to digitize the CBSE school system in the country. She said in order to reduce the costs of textbooks a computer aps called e-Pathshala had been developed for free e-textbooks for school students in the country.

Two more digital initiatives � �Salah-Darpan� and �Saransh� were also launched for the convenience of students and parents of the CBSE schools, she said.

The inaugural function was also attended by Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs and local MP Sarbananda Sonowal. In his address, Sonowal announced the introduction of fourteen new Navodaya Vidyalayas for the Adivasi and other tribal communities in Assam in recent times.

The Director of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Santosh Mal and Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Debeswar Malakar also attended the function. Later the Union HRD Minister addressed a public rally at Chanmari here.
