New initiative to address public woes under way in Nalbari district

NALBARI, Nov 24 - In order to bring the administration close to the common people and for effective implementation of the Government�s developmental schemes of various departments, the Nalbari district administration has initiated a programme, namely �Padakhep� in the district.

The first programme under this initiative was held at Rampur under Mukalmua revenue circle in Nalbari district on Thursday. The programme was inaugurated by Narayan Deka, MLA of Barkshetri LAC.

In his inaugural speech, Deka said that in order to solve various problems like land mutation, partition, revenue collection and to meet grievances of the public regarding various government schemes of the Social Welfare Department, Panchayat and Rural Development, Veterinary, Agriculture and PHE departments, among others, the initiative of Padakhep will be very effective.

He lauded the initiative of Nalbari Deputy Commissioner Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury to generate awareness among the people about government schemes being implemented in the district.

Addressing the meeting, Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury appealed to the people to come forward to avail the benefits of the government�s various welfare schemes. He said this programme is designed like a bridge between the government and the public. It will help in meaningful implementation of all the schemes and programmes in the district, he added.

It may be mentioned that in the programme at Rampur, the Panchayat and Rural Development Department issued old-age pension forms. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department listened to the grievances of the public, while the Veterinary department informed about their schemes relating to animals and livestock. Similarly, the Social Welfare Department apprised the people about locally-available nutritious food, vegetables, divyanga pension and matri vandana, among others.

Meanwhile, the PHE Department tested water of the locality in the Mobile Water Testing Laboratory and received applications for individual household latrines. All the departments received applications from the public and subsequently showcased their activities on the occasion.
