SILCHAR, Sept 21 - BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on Friday said the bid to build a new India will not be an American version of India, but an India with social, moral and economic freedom.
Delivering an oration on Building A New India: United, Strong and Prosperous on the occassion of the 81st birth anniversary of former Silchar MLA Late Bimalangshu Roy at the auditorium of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Madhav said, New India will not be an American version of India, rather it would be an India for which we fought our freedom struggle. We must take part in the movement envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India economically, socially and morally independent.
Recalling the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi, Madhav said that over 50 years India was progressing in the wrong direction. In his words, efforts are being made to turn the wheels wherein every person enjoys his rights.
On the other hand, speaking on the fallouts of National Register of Citizens (NRC), which has 19,06,657 people out of the list, Madhav claimed that what was meant to be done in 1950s has been accomplished in 2019. However, there are anomalies which would be rectified.
We cannot allow a single genuine citizen to become a refugee again. Abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu Kashmir was a fitting tribute to Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, solving the issue of illegal immigrants and protection of the rights of genuine Indian citizens in Assam would be a tribute to leaders like former Silchar MLA Bimalangshu Roy, who had selflessly worked for the rights of the people, Madhav maintained.
Madhav released the biography of Bimalangshu Roy in the presence of the latters wife Bani Roy, the chairman of BR Foundation, managing trustee and Roys son, Dr Rajdeep Roy who is also the Silchar MP, Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque Laskar, Minister of Forest, Environment and Fisheries Parimal Suklabaidya, Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Prof Dilip Chandra Nath and Principal of Silchar Medical College Dr Babul Bezbaruah.
