IMPHAL, Nov 7 - Major General Virendra Singh has taken over as the new Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) from Major General VS Sreenivas during a handing over ceremony at its Mantripukhuri headquarters near here on Saturday, according to Assam Rifles sources.
The new Inspector General Virendra Singh held many distinguished command and staff appointments and previously commanded 21 Sector Assam Rifles in Tripura, said the source.
The outgoing Major General VS Sreenivas was given a warm farewell before leaving Mantripukhri on Sunday. In his farewell address, Sreenivas appealed to the people of Manipur to participate in the peace process and work hand in hand with the security forces.
