New health scheme launched

By CORRESPONDENT

JALUKBARI, June 9 - Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Vinod Seshan today formally launched the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) at the Tularam Bafna, Kamrup District Civil Hospital.

The PMSMA has been simultaneously launched in all the 77 health institutions of Kamrup district.

In his speech, Seshan said the PMSMA service on the 9th of every month is a unique and effective way to reach out to the poor masses. Every month a strong bond will be created among the beneficiaries and the service delivery people right from medical officers to ASHA workers.

Seshan added that prompt service should be provided to all patients, especially when it comes to pregnant women and children. He warned that strict punitive action would be taken against those who do not maintain punctuality and sincerity in government health institutions.

Nodal Officer for PMSMA Dr Jayanta Baruah explained how the monthly PMSMA service would be able to find out the high-risk pregnant women and offer prompt service to them.

It is noteworthy that under the PMSMA all pregnant women in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters will be given free antenatal care (ANC) services and counselling on the 9th of every month.
