IMPHAL, Dec 31 � Former Union Home Secretary Vinod Kumar Duggal was today sworn in as the new Governor of Manipur, a post which was being looked after by Nagaland Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar.
The swearing-in ceremony, at the Raj Bhavan here was attended by family members of the new Governor, Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, his Council of Ministers, MLAs, former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam, RK Jhaljit and Th Haridas, senior citizens, top civil and police officials, Chief Secretary PC Lamwkunga and DGP S Ahmad.
Chief Justice Laxmikant Mahapatra of High Court of Manipur administered the oath of office and secrecy.
Speaking to the media soon after the swearing-in, the new Governor of Manipur said, �I pray for a prosperous State in the coming year and for this we�ve to work hard at our best.
Duggal is the 14th Governor of Manipur.
