GUWAHATI, June 14 - An Assamese film based on journalist-author Homen Borgohain�s novel Subala will be screened under the competition sections at film festivals in London and Hollywood.
Munna Ahmed has directed the film titled Subala � The Darkness Within. The title role has been played by Urmila Mahanta, an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, who has worked in many films in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages, stated a press release.
Produced by Abdul Mannan Faruk and Abdul Muktadir, the film stars Atul Pachani, Pratibha Choudhury, Himangshu Prasad Das, Pranami Bora, Padmarag Goswami, Siddharta Mukherjee, Nila Saikia, and child artiste Apsara Das.
Produced under the banner of Azaan Films, the movie received an �A� certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. The script and dialogues are by Avishka Phukan, music is by Tarali Sarma, cinematography by Suman Duwerah, editing by Debankar Bargohain, and art direction by Jyotishankar Bhattacharjya, sound design by Dipak Dutta and Babul Das, costumes have been designed by Rani Dutta Baruah, makeup is by Bhaskar Dutta. Kushal Kumar Gogoi is the chief assistant director, while Amin Ahmed, Paresh Saikia and Bitopan Mahanta are assistant directors.
The film is expected to release next year.
